The stands weren't quite full, but a lot of loyal fans from both Illinois State and visiting Northern Iowa were in the stands of the recently renovated Hancock Stadium for the first post season FCS football game in the renovated facility.  Illinois State had not hosted a post season game in 15 years.  By now everyone knows the results were tilted to the Redbirds who will move on to a game in Washington State as the NCAA FCS playoffs continue. Lots of local talent on the IWU basketball teams this season. I know I'm going to miss someone - apologies in advance. Molly McGraw, Rebekah Ehresman, A couple of Seibrings - Trevor and Spencer, Brady Rose and Jaylen Beasley... Maybe I  did get them all. One could point to any number of different things that could have changed the outcome of this 60-55 game favoring the visiting Utah State Aggies.  Illinois State Redbirds hosted them for the first home non-conference game of the season on Sunday November 16th. Redbirds are having a really good weekend. The Soccer team plays today in Normal for the MVC Championship, Football team posted a come from behind win over the Penguins of Youngstown State and the Women's Volleyball team remains undefeated  in the Valley after knocking off the Loyola Ramblers and the Bradley Braves both with three straight sets. The Bloomington - Normal / McLean County area teams scored 7 to the first round. Of those 7 games, 5 were home games, one on Friday night, the rest spread throughout the day on Saturday. With so much going on, Chimper was only able to make it to 2 of the games.  On Friday night, the Spartans of Springfield Southeast braved the cold of the north and travelled to Normal to pick on the Wildcats of Normal West. It worked out to the Wildcats advantage. The passing game of the Spartans was ineffective as cold hands and a cold pigskin made it an uncatchable object for them. The Wildcats had their problems too, but the claws managed to grab it a few more times keeping it an effective option for them. The rest of the game was fought on the ground. Some, including Chimper, actually saw some snowflakes floating in the air as the game began.  On Saturday, the Redskins of Morris took to the turf in Hancock Stadium to ruin the Pioneers season. The Redbirds scored first but missed their point after attempt in the first quarter on Saturday October 25th under the lights at Hancock Stadium against the Bears of Missouri State.  They didn't score again until late in the game but came back from a 7-6 deficiet. It was enough for the Redbirds to grab their 7th win of the season to remain undefeated for the season and in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.
