The Bloomington - Normal / McLean County area teams scored 7 to the first round. Of those 7 games, 5 were home games, one on Friday night, the rest spread throughout the day on Saturday. With so much going on, Chimper was only able to make it to 2 of the games.  On Friday night, the Spartans of Springfield Southeast braved the cold of the north and travelled to Normal to pick on the Wildcats of Normal West. It worked out to the Wildcats advantage. The passing game of the Spartans was ineffective as cold hands and a cold pigskin made it an uncatchable object for them. The Wildcats had their problems too, but the claws managed to grab it a few more times keeping it an effective option for them. The rest of the game was fought on the ground. The Redbirds scored first but missed their point after attempt in the first quarter on Saturday October 25th under the lights at Hancock Stadium against the Bears of Missouri State.  They didn't score again until late in the game but came back from a 7-6 deficiet. It was enough for the Redbirds to grab their 7th win of the season to remain undefeated for the season and in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. On Friday October 17th, the Panthers of Northern Iowa arrived in Normal Illinois tied for 1st place in the Missouri Valley Conference with the ISU Redbirds in Women's Volleyball.  They left that night is 2nd.  The Redbirds came out hot taking the first, third and fourth sets of the match and also mounted a very good recovery comeback in the second set but falling just short.  It was a match that lived up to all the hype and also pulled in a good Friday evening crowd to Redbird Arena. A tight ground attack from both teams highlighted the Homecoming football game at Illinois Wesleyan University as the Titans hosted the Vikings of Augustana.  The Vikings walked off with a 7-2 victory.  Donovan Laible conducted operations for the first time as a starter for the Titans. It brighter lights, more seats, artificial turf - but it's still the Vikings against the Panthers.  A mere few miles apart southeast of the Twin Cities, the mostly friendly rivalry moves to the center of town for the game each year.  It's a great game, lots of fun and a good experience for everyone to play in a larger different environment. Tri Valley took the points this year.  Hope to see you all again at Tucci next season! 04 October 2014 - A couple early turn overs by the Jacks, a tough Redbird defense and an explosive Redbirds offense behind Tre Roberson, Marshaun Coprich, and Lechein Neblett led the Redbirds to a victory over The JackRabbits with a score of 45-10.  Coprich had a career day of 174 yards, Roberson added151 rushing yards while passing for 168.  Lechein Neblett scored 4 times while Tevin Allen returned a kick 95 yards for a touchdown. 20141003 South Dakota State JackRabbits at Illinois State Redbirds Football photos - Images by Alan Look  - Chimper -

02 September 2014 - In an intercity rivalry game, the Normal Community Ironmen football team visited the strips of the Bloomington High Raiders.  The Raiders just couldn't get it going leaving the Ironmen outscoring them 41-20 at the final horn.
