Le Roy Panthers fall in Quarterfinals at home

Triopia trumped the Le Roy Panthers today by 2 points.  It was a knock down, drag them out, take an inch up the middle game from the beginning.  The stadium was packed, parking a premium, and the weather cooperative!  What a season the Panthers had.  11-1. DeeMack defeats Riverdale in 3 sets

Deer Creek Mackinaws Chiefs were one of the final four in the Class 2A completion.  On Friday, they went the distance with the Rams of Riverdale (Port Bryon).  The Rams took the first set pretty easily.  The second set turned after the first few points and the passion and play came to the Chiefs.  They took the second set and didn’t let up till they finished off on top at the end of the third set to take the match 2 sets to one. Panthers go to round 2.

Wow, 3 football games in a row without any precipitation! Last Saturday's game, and two this weekend.  I still won't complain about getting rain on so many games this season.  So many are hurting from the lack of it from May to almost September. It didn't rain on Le Roy yesterday, but it sounded like thunder on the field for a couple of those hits offered up by the Panther Defense!  Then the O came on the field and I thought I was on the Savana watching the cheetahs run. Way to go Panthers! Check out the Normalite (LeRoy Leader) this week and the next edition of Best Look Magazine to see which of the great photos we use of this game. John Power Photography was also on hand for the Panther game and covered the Prairie Central v Peoria Notre Dame game.  Be sure to check out his shots. Illinois State falls to Missouri State Bears

Another day spent on the grid iron at Hancock Stadium.  The new upgrades to the east side are starting to look more positive.  Most of the work is still sub terrain, but the word is that it will start becoming visible in the later half of November.  The last game this season - unless there is post season here - will be at noon on November 14th.  I'm hoping for some steel structure to be visible by then So, the coverage today was for Best Look Magazine and the Normalite .  Be sure to check out each.  A teaser gallery is at Alan Look Photography . Big news today was the lose to Missouri State, but a highlight for Illinois State was the passing today added enough to Matt Brown's total that he is now the leader in pass completion yards of all time in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

HOIC Football Title decided on Wilder Field

Le Roy Panthers and Tri Valley Vikings were both undefeated until last night when they  met at Tucci Stadium on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.  It was a Vikings "home game" and was pepped up by the Tri Valley announcer in the booth.  The Home side bleachers were pretty packed and the visitors side was full and the fence line crowded.  Still one team or the other was going to walk away defeated and the HOIC title would go home with the other.  Even in the sorrow of defeat, there is some resolve as both teams have won enough games to score a game in the first round of the IHSA playoffs which will begin next weekend and the match ups should be announced soon. Le Roy left victorious. Alan Look Photography was there covering for the Normalite Newspaper Group (LeRoy Leader) and Best Look Magazine .  Be sure to check out each link. On Saturday it was football at Illinois State with the Redbirds hosting Youngstown State Penguins and then in the evening the Volleyball Redbirds took on the Drake Bulldogs .  Click on any of the links for photos and news links.
