2012 Bloomington Fire Truck Parade

Nothing ruins a good fireman convention like a fire call.  The Bloomington Township Fire Department received a call which took them away from the display of trucks after the parade finished.  They had four of the approximately 30 vehicles on display.  No details on the fire, but we hope everything went well and no injuries or loss of property were experienced. Trucks from many McLean County and Central Illinois departments were represented.  Some I recall were Arrowsmith, Ellsworth, LeRoy, Gridley, Randolph Township, Bloomington, Bloomington Township, Towanda, and Peoria.  I'm sure there were others. Be sure to check the November issue of Best Look Magazine for a short story and some images.  There is also an image gallery at Alan Look Photography .

Like a sputtering car in need of repair

Like a sputtering car in need of repair, that's how it was for Alan Look Photography and the Illinois State Redbirds this weekend.  Circumstances beyond our control forced us to miss all the great Friday night high school football.  West was at Bloomington - Bloomington won, Ridgeview played LeRoy - LeRoy won, UHigh played and won, and Normal Community played MacArthur and won.  Those are just a few of the local games.  Any would have been great to see. The ISU Redbirds took on the Salukis of Southern Illinois for Homecoming.  It seemed like every time they got to moving forward the exhaust would backfire and the ball would move the other way.  They were ranked #9 and were undefeated with 5 wins, the best record since the 1960's.  Five and one is still an awesome record, but we will just have to wait and see what happens to the ranking (does it really matter?), SIU v ISU Photo Gallery I lost track of just what John Power was covering this weekend fo...

Le Roy always supports their Panthers

For as long as I can remember Le Roy has always been a big football town.  The stands were always full in the '70s when I was in a competing high school and they are still full every time I go down to shoot.  Last night was no different as they sent Blue Ridge Knights packing back to Farmer City as the Panthers won their Homecoming. Be sure to get your copy of Best Look Magazine . Blue Ridge Knights v LeRoy Panthers football photos John Power took this weekend off from shooting, but be sure to check out his galleries from past games for some more great action photos.

'Birds burn Bradley and UHigh smothers Eureka

The Volleyball Redbirds cleaned up the Braves from Bradley on Saturday night in 4 sets.  Earlier in the day, the University High School Pioneers zipped the Eureka Hornets in Hancock Stadium.  I think I shot a years worth of touchdowns in that game in just over a half of shooting. Pictures from both competitions will be at Alan Look Photography before Tuesday.  Hope you enjoy the viewing. If you haven't already, be sure to take a look and pick up your copy of Best Look Magazine - Every Picture has a Story, Every Story has a Picture.  Printed Quarterly by Alan Look Photography

Wildcats take 2012 Chili Bowl, NCHS @ West

The night didn't disappoint.  Everything that makes a Chili Bowl exciting.  Stormy weather, The Wildcats and the Ironmen, lots of fans and an oblong ball that takes funny bounces.  Yes, they were all there tonight.  The Wildcats took the Ironmen at home and will get to place the Chili Bowl in their trophy case till next year.  I don't have a lot of stats or side notes.  I haven't a clue how many yards Edwards ran for the Iron or what happened to Jefferson just before the half.  I do know the Cats returned to the field after the break and Alex didn't show up till later on the back of the squad cart under a blanket - padless.  It did appear to be an injury to his leg.  I'm sure there will be more known tomorrow. Chili Bowl pictures will be available at Alan Look Photography later this weekend. John Power covered the Central Catholic slaying of Pontiac tonight.  His photos will be available in a few days as well. Be sure to check ou...

Friday Night Football September 14, 2012

Most Friday nights you can find me at a high school football game.  no exception on the 14th.  Coverage this night was Homecoming at Normal Community West High School against conference foes Danville Vikings.  It was come from behind, get way ahead, let them almost catch up, then win for the Wildcats. Images on Alan Look Photography Website Friend, fellow photographer and Best Look Magazine contributor John Power was reportedly at the El Paso - Gridley Titans v Fieldcrest Falcons game and part of the night at Eureka for the game against the Central Catholic Saints.  Not sure if he made it to both of them.  Check his website for images from those games.
