Two weeks into the football season and the games we have covered were all just a wee bit one-sided. In week 1, Sacred Heart Griffin boke the wheels on the wagon of the University High Pioneers. Week 2 presented us with a twofer weekend, one high school game and one college game. The Annual Chili Bowl between Normal Community and Normal Community West was a one-sided affair on the field at NCHS. West Wildcats got a quick early score on a fumble recovery return, but was pretty much shut down by the Ironmen until the 3rd quarter. In college competition, Saint Xavier just couldn't keep up with the Redbirds in Hancock Stadium.
Stay tuned, we will try to post a little more this season.
Yes, it was a chili night on Friday for the Chili Bowl between the Normal Community Ironmen and the Normal West Wildcats. The temps were in the low 60's and there was a pretty good breeze blowing in from the north at Normal West High School's football field. The effects were evidently felt more by the Wildcats than the Iron. The Iron stormed ahead in the first half, but the Wildcats stayed in the game with a couple of pretty solid drives. In the end, it wasn't enough for the hosts with the Iron taking the game and the Chili Bowl.
Thanksgiving weekend was full of action in Bloomington Normal. Boys Intercity continues at Shirk with one night left. Alan Look Photography covered a portion of the U High Pioneers v Normal Ironmen game.

The Illinois State Redbird Men's Basketball Team hosted the Penguins from Youngstown State. The game was tied 65-65 at the end of regulation play leading to over-time. The Redbirds took care of business in the extended play coming out with the win.
