Coach Norm Eash winningest CCIW coach in History

Wheaton Thunder rumbled into Bloomington Illinois on Saturday September 12th ranked at #12 in D3 football schools.  They never rumbled much the first half of the game, but came out in the 2nd half with a long kickoff return that left them just short of the goal and scored on the next play.  Illinois Wesleyan Titans got the ball back only to give it up on a fumble due to a pretty hard hit and the Thunder rumbled back into the end zone.  That was the last of the rumbles from the Thunder as the Titans muscled their way back up to their feet to push them out of Tucci Stadium.  Final score put the Titans on top.  The win was a good one for IWU and an even better one for Coach Norm Eash.  The win made Coach Eash the winningest football coach in the history of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

Congrats to the Titans and Coach Eash.

Illinois Wesleyan Titans give up CCIW Championship to Wheaton Thunder at Shirk

After taking the CCIW outright with a record of 23-3 in the regular season, the Titans fell flat in the championship game against the Thunder of Wheaton College.  Returning to Shirk Center for Wheaton was Nate Haynes who has played there several times during his high school career at Normal Community.

The bucket just seemed to close every time the ball hit the rim or glass when the Titans put up the ball hitting only 23 of 47 shots from the floor and only 15 of 27 free throws.  The Thunder faired better, opening up the hoop for 25 of 45 from the floor and 30 of 33 from the free pass line.

Dylan Overstreet led the Titans with 15 points, Tyler Peter for the Thunder with 29.  NCHS product Nate Haynes finished with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
