Girls Semi-Final - 2013 102nd McLean County Tournament

The two girls semi-final games of the 2013 102nd McLean County tournament were held Thursday night at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.  The Panthers of Le Roy took on the Titans of El Paso - Gridley in the first game.  The first half was pretty tight, but the Titans took the early lead.  In the 3rd Quarter, the Titans pulled away and never looked back till the final buzzer. The second game for which we weren't able to remain on site, pitted the Turks of Tremont against the Vikings of Tri-Valley.  We can report that the Turks won that game. The results of these two game set up a rivalry 3rd place game on Saturday between Tri-Valley and close neighbor Le Roy.  The Championship game on Saturday night sets up an outside the McLean County borders war between Tremont of Tazwell County and El Paso - Gridley of McLean and Woodford Counties. The boys semi-finals play tonight with Fieldcrest against Ridgeview and Tri-Valley against Bl...

HOIC Football Title decided on Wilder Field

Le Roy Panthers and Tri Valley Vikings were both undefeated until last night when they  met at Tucci Stadium on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.  It was a Vikings "home game" and was pepped up by the Tri Valley announcer in the booth.  The Home side bleachers were pretty packed and the visitors side was full and the fence line crowded.  Still one team or the other was going to walk away defeated and the HOIC title would go home with the other.  Even in the sorrow of defeat, there is some resolve as both teams have won enough games to score a game in the first round of the IHSA playoffs which will begin next weekend and the match ups should be announced soon. Le Roy left victorious. Alan Look Photography was there covering for the Normalite Newspaper Group (LeRoy Leader) and Best Look Magazine .  Be sure to check out each link. Le Roy always supports their Panthers

For as long as I can remember Le Roy has always been a big football town.  The stands were always full in the '70s when I was in a competing high school and they are still full every time I go down to shoot.  Last night was no different as they sent Blue Ridge Knights packing back to Farmer City as the Panthers won their Homecoming. Be sure to get your copy of Best Look Magazine . Blue Ridge Knights v LeRoy Panthers football photos John Power took this weekend off from shooting, but be sure to check out his galleries from past games for some more great action photos.
